- Marketing plans
In the course of producing all my
projects, I often do some copywriting and editing.
Additionally,
all these projects have to be printed. That's where my many years
of experience is extremely valuable to my clients.
Printing is
a very complex manufacturing process. Design files have to be set
up in certain ways to optimize the printing process. I always have
the print process in mind when I'm designing, since some things
can be done, and others can't or are too expensive. An example of
the latter is a business envelope with color that goes to the edges.
It can be done, but the envelopes have to be manufactured to allow
for the extra paper that the bleed requires. So, it can be done,
but it is expensive, and not a small run.
All of my clients
have me coordinate quotes, proofs and printing of their designs.
I get quotes from reliable printers I have used in the past and
with whom I have a good working relationship. Quotes will be compared
and the right one (not always the cheapest) will be chosen. Decisions
such as which paper stock and which weight are discussed, with the
printer and the client, during this phase. After submission of the
artwork, the next step is getting a printer's proof of the job.
This is where experience really counts. The proof stage is the last
chance to make changes, and also where the printer's expertise can
be challenged. Once I sign off on a proof, after minute scrutiny,
the printer has to match the printed piece to the proof. If he fails
to do that, I can ask that he reprint the job. And, he will have
to.
Additional services
include coordinating with mail houses, promotional product vendors,
and local newspapers and magazines.
In other words, I take
your project from the very beginning to the very end--the printed
product--with no worry for my clients. |
